重庆工商大学统计学院统计专业的历史悠久。原渝州大学于1982年在重庆市率先设立统计专业；原重庆商学院于1987年在重庆高校中率先设立统计学系；2002年9月，重庆工商大学成立，在整合原重庆商学院与渝州大学两校统计师资和相关资源的基础上组建了重庆工商大学统计学系，2005年更名为统计学院。统计学院现有应用统计学、调查与分析、经济分析三个本科专业方向。

南开大学的数理统计学专业创建于1981年，分别于1983年、1984年和1990年开始招收本科生、硕士研究生和博士研究生，是我国最早设立这一专业并招收各类学生的学校之一。1999年正式成立统计学系。

兰州商学院统计学院最初设立于1985年，1987年成立统计学系，2000年成立统计学院。现设有统计学、投资经济学等专业。统计学科在国内处于较先进水平，自1998年以来一直是甘肃省重点学科，2003年7月获得硕士学位授权点资格，并从2004年开始招收、培养研究生。

安徽财经大学统计与应用数学学院成立于2005年1月18日，由原安徽财经大学统计学系和信息与计算科学系合并组成。目前该院共有教职工55人，其中教授9人，副教授13人。该院现有统计学、信息与计算科学和数学与应用数学三个本科专业，其中统计学专业是该校传统优势专业和教学改革示范专业。有统计学和数量经济学2个硕士点，学院现有在校本科生748人。
