北京第二外国语学院国际传播学院前身是汉语部，汉语部前身是汉语教研室。汉语教研室成立于1964年秋。1995年成立中国语言文学系。中文系1995年成立以来，以前所未有的速度不断发展、壮大。1995年到1998年每年招收50左右名的学生，1999年招收100名学生，2000年至2002年每年招收120多名学生。2003年春季新增设了新闻学专业。2003年春季首届新闻学专业学生报到。
